I was immediately grateful for the comfort and safety she clearly felt on arrival. Not only for her sake, but also for mine as her primary carer. You went above and beyond what was needed to help both her, and me.
You communicated with my husband when I was ill; he felt your care for all of us, even if you hadn’t yet met me at that point. Given what I was dealing with at the time, I doubt you realised how significant your kindness was. I cried with relief and gratitude when you made things happen to help my mum, therefore also supporting me.
Mum is now residing with you permanently, and we couldn’t be happier with that decision, difficult though it was to make. She feels well looked after, and constantly tells me how wonderful all the staff are. Without exception. She tells us often about the shoulder massage which she feels make a difference to her pain. Please pass on our thanks to whoever is responsible for that.
She truly feels safe and secure, and is happy. Which is the most important for all of us. You also very smoothly facilitated a room change, which we all know was absolutely beneficial. So a special thank you for that too.
This year, as we all know, has been a nightmare that none of us could have imagined. The way Summitcare has managed the Covid lockdown, and safety of the residents, has been exemplary. I cannot imagine how the staff are coping with the added burden of no outings and no family support, yet when we call or FaceTime or even visit through the window, staff are polite, respectful, and we always feel welcome.
We do not know everyone’s names as much of mum’s time there has been in lockdown. But please express our gratitude to all, and we look forward to meeting more staff when you are open again.
Many thanks to you Sonja, and ALL of your amazing staff.
I would highly recommend SummitCare Wallsend. Apart from the premises being very impressive, it appeared to be very well-managed by well- experienced and knowledgeable staff. Both John and Robyn created a positive impression, appearing very sincere, thorough and dedicated to their roles.
The premises were impeccably clean and tidy. The nursing staff were neatly presented and went about their duties in a quiet and gentle manner. John explained that all meals were made on-site and as to how the laundry system worked. He emphasised that there was a great community feel and strong family involvement on the premises. He offered me a drink at the cafe and following my tour, advised that he will send me a confirmation email. He was exceptionally courteous and professional throughout.
The tour was very comprehensive and conducted professionally. John advised that it would take 20 minutes (which it did), following which he introduced me to Robyn Blackwell in his office. Robyn was equally pleasant and professional to deal with and spent approximately 15 minutes chatting about my relative's specific needs and how Summitcare could best assist (healthcare, allied health etc.).
I was initially offered a virtual tour when I made my first phone call. The following day, a manager (John Petticrew) contacted me promptly to offer me a physical tour and stayed in contact, giving me the impression that he was genuinely interested in providing care for my relative. Therefore, I went for the tour with a positive impression having already been created and the tour did not disappoint.
The services offered and maintenance of the premises were fantastic and couldn't be faulted.
Afternoon tea was being served and the items looked fresh and well-presented. All rooms looked spacious, airy and clean and I particularly liked the design of the rooms in the Magnolia wing. The outdoor area, the cafe facilities and the internal communal areas were also impressive.
My initial (and lasting) impression of the premises was that it had a beautiful layout/design, was well-maintained, peaceful and inviting. I particularly liked the shades of paint used for the exterior.
The decision to place my father in a nursing home was one of the hardest decisions we made as a family. Choosing the right nursing home was difficult. When I entered 173 Summitcare in Liverpool for our orientation, the friendly smiles on the staff was one of the most striking differences I saw compared to the other places we had inspected. We were looking for a place that would treat my father with respect and dignity and care for him.
My father was a resident of Summitcare for about 12 months before we decided to bring him back home.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff working at Summitcare. They looked after my father extremely well and as a family we were very happy with the quality of care. I believe what makes Summitcare stand out from the rest is the compassionate staff that works there.
I would like to thank all the staff that looked after my father. While he was a resident only for a while, it felt like a home. The moment we stepped through the doors we knew this was the place to be.
I am enormously grateful for the wonderful care that my mum is receiving. My mum is in pain most of the time but the generosity of your professional staff make her stay more tolerable and the genuine compassion is beyond extraordinary. Thank you.
