Message from Michelle Sloane

Dear Residents, Family and Friends,

The constant evolution of the aged care sector continues to provide challenges across the industry. Whilst we no longer have Covid to contend with unfortunately we have seen some outbreaks of gastroenteritis and influenza this time of year.

On a brighter note as the CEO of SummitCare I always feel privileged to witness the remarkable dedication of our teams, the joy they bring their residents in each home and the resilience of our residents. When I visit the homes I love to see the various events that are taking place or hear about celebrations that have occurred. Our General Managers and their teams continue to impress me with their ideas to create fun times for our residents. The photos are amazing!

At present everyone is gearing up for our festive celebrations and we hope to welcome families to join our residents to celebrate Christmas festivities in our homes. I know our General Managers and their teams put a lot into preparing for these special events and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever!

Each quarter, “SummitNews” brings you a curated selection of stories, expert insights, and updates that reflect our unwavering commitment to improving the lives of our elders.

In these pages, you will discover a wealth of information as we share heartwarming tales of residents and their families. We delve into Pet therapy, Child Representation therapy to Robots in aged care. Who would have imagined Robots! Real George Jetson!

We showcase some of our team of skilled professionals, from nurses and caregivers to our catering and administration staff.

We also take pride in highlighting our ongoing efforts to promote sustainability and environmental responsibility within our facilities. We are currently installing solar panels in the first three of our homes. Our commitment to creating a nurturing, safe, and eco-friendly environment ensures that our residents enjoy a high quality of life while contributing to a healthier planet.

As we navigate the challenges and triumphs of the aged care landscape, “SummitCare” will continue to keep you informed about regulatory changes, industry trends, and our continuous pursuit of excellence. Your feedback and suggestions are invaluable to us in our pursuit to provide the best possible care. I encourage you to attend your Consumer Advisory meetings, (previously Resident & Relative meetings) that are held in your homes every month virtually, or in person. These are a great way to keep pace with developments happening in your home and hear suggestions for continuous improvement from residents and other family members.

Thank you for being a part of our journey, and we hope you find this edition of “SummitNews” informative.

Together, we can continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our wonderful residents.

Warm, festive wishes

Michelle Sloane
