Heather once stood on the stage of the Sydney Opera House, singing alongside the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. It was a defining experience in her life. “The feeling I felt while I was singing was incredible,” she said. She performed there for seven years before losing her singing voice, but said she will always cherish those memories.
Among her travels, Zimbabwe stands out as her favourite destination. Staying in a small nature resort, she was surrounded by wildlife. “I saw elephants, crocodiles, zebras, hippos, monkeys, wildebeest, and more. There were times I was a bit worried, but I still felt safe,” she said, reminiscing. “I had never experienced anything like that before. It was nice to be able to walk up and be surrounded by animals. I loved every moment.”
Faith has been a constant source of strength for Heather. “My life hasn’t always been easy, but my church and my faith have always been there for me, and I lean on it when I need to,” she said.
Heather also appreciates the wonderful support her family provides. “They take care of things so I don’t have to worry, like ensuring the bills are paid - which helps take some stress off me,” she explained. “They always call and check on me. They let me know I have not been forgotten.”
One thing few people know about Heather is her quiet devotion to others. “I take time every night for every person I know,” she said. “When I hear someone is struggling, I make sure I say a prayer for them.”
From the grand stage of the Opera House to quiet moments of reflection, Heather’s life has been shaped by music, faith, and kindness.
